YOUTH GROUP
WBUMC YOUTH GROUP
The Middle School Youth Group meets last Sunday of each month (Sept.-May) at 5:00-6:30 pm. Youth, grades 5-8, are welcome to be active in this group. The High School Youth Group, grades 9-12, meet monthly for local mission projects. The times and dates of these events are communicated by email.
Youth Group provides an opportunity to build relationships, grow in faith, serve in mission and enjoy friendships.
Each year fundraisers are held to raise funds for the youth's annual mission trip.
Youth Sunday recognizes the youth and their gifts and talents as they plan, lead, and participate in the worship service.
Youth prepare and serve meals at the Salvation Army. They participate in the annual Crop Walk to support the needs of the hungry in our community and around the world. Food Scavenger Hunts are a frequent activity to support the local food pantry.
MISSION TRIPS
***2011 Mission Trip will be a return trip to Midwest Distribution Center, July 25-29, 2011.
***2010 Mission Trip was to Des Moines. July 26-30. Worked with the Haven program, an after school program for children; Bidwell Riverside, a resource for the poor on the south side of Des Moines, and the Breakfast program at Trinity United Methodist Church, for the poor of the northside of Des Moines.
***2009 Mission Trip was to the Midwest Distribution Center at Chatham, IL. This is the center that processes all mission kits for distribution in the United States and around the world for the North Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church.
***2008 Mission Trip to Kansas City, Missouri. Worked with the N2N (Neighbor to Neighbor) program at Westport Revolution United Methodist Church.
***2007 Mission Trips were to Des Moines. Worked with the children at Trinity UMC who are apart of the summer program.
